Having worked extensively with Manchester Met University on many interior projects, Ferrious was asked to look at how to utilise the long-forgotten Drapers Courtyard, a space effectively giving light to surrounding workshops, lecture rooms and offices but unutilised as an educational space. Our solution; an open structure that defined independent and personal spaces. The building was fabricated off-site and then erected to an incredibly tight deadline to allow its use in the new academic year. A central glazed and roofed area was created for lectures and exhibitions, with the outer structures giving individual areas that could be utilised for the presentation of work on a giant LED display, seen from every part of the pavilion.
