Designing a contemporary house in rural Lancashire isn’t something you would think the planners would ecourage, however, like us, you would be wrong. The planning authority embraced the scheme fully, with the planning officer presenting the scheme to the committee who passed the plans unanimously. The exterior of the house was as uncompromising as the interior configuration. Our belief at Ferrious is to design from the inside out; to start with each room’s use and then layer them accordingly. Some bedrooms were north facing and downstairs, the master upstairs, a day lounge downstairs and south facing, with an evening lounge upstairs and north facing. Unconventional, but in practice a working model of modern family life. We live differently in the 21st century than we did 100 years ago and this house proves that understanding a client’s way of life can deliver a beautiful home. The interior was furnished with Living Divani, Knoll, Flos and special custom pieces by Ferrious.
