When Objects Work has been a long love of our director, Jeremy West. Beatrice de Lafontaine has created a company with an incredibly edited selection of pieces by outstanding designers and architects. Her initial collaboration with John Pawson and his design of ‘5 Objects’ – a tray, bowl, vase, picture frame and candleholder in 1999 – has gone on to fulfil a long collaboration with tableware created for his Abbey of Our Lady of Novy Dvur project. Other collaborations have been established, the most notable being with Vincent Van Duysen and his ‘Primitives’ collection – the most beautiful pottery with oak lids which has now been extended to include walnut and stone as materials.
We could go on and on but put simply, the pieces by When Objects Work live by the rule ‘have nothing in your life that does not bring you joy’.
